An interreligious gathering organized by the Catholic Sabha of Ranipura parish on the occasion of Christmas was held in the church hall of Ranipura parish on December 18, 2022. Approximately two hundred people of different communities attended the meeting. In his presidential speech, Fr Jayaprakash, the Parish Priest, said that every person has a right to follow one’s religion of choice, and that religion should serve to unite people and guide them to work for the welfare of society.
Mr Krishnappa Salian, the President of Dakshina Kannada Raita Sangha recalled his 50 years of association with the Ranipura church and school. He said that during the times of famine, the church used to provide free meal to all irrespective of their religion. Mr Mustafa Munnur, the former Panchayat President, praised Ranipura church for its service to people of different religions in the locality. Mr Rolphy D Costa the Ex-president of Catholic Sabha Central Council expressed that we can build a good society if we live harmoniously as brothers and sisters.
Mr Alwin DSouza, the Parish Vice-President, and Mrs Wilma DSouza were present for the programme. Mr Naveen DSouza welcomed the gathering and Mr Treza Monteiro extended a vote of thanks. All were served tea and kuswar at the end of the meeting.
